"Feldenkrais has studied the body in movement with a precision that I have found nowhere else."
— Peter Brook, stage and film director
Over the years many performers, directors, acting teachers and musicians have used The Feldenkrais Method and Awareness Through Movement® classes to improve their performance and enhance their creativity.
Peter Brook, Lee Strasberg, Yoshi Oida, Whoopie Goldberg ,Neil Young, Yehudi Menuhin and many others have discovered that The Feldenkrais Method® can help performers achieve greater stage presence, expand their performance skills, enhance their creativity and refine their acting talents.
Awareness Through Movement® is highly regarded as a sophisticated, enjoyable sensory-motor approach to learning . In lessons, a movement is done attending to the quality rather than the quantity which helps to release limiting and habitual tensions. Through diverse, ingenious movement experiments, the performer learns to reduce effort and strain which leads to an increase in awareness and sensitivity.
The resulting potent state allows performers to extend their heightened awareness to their fellow performers, to their environment, and to truly listen and be present on stage.These lessons are helpful and interesting for people at all levels of ability.
This workshop is led and facilitated by the Artistic Directors of Theatre du Pif, Bonni Chan and Sean Curran. Bonni and Sean have been Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioners since 2004. Through practicing and integrating the Method into their professional work, they have found it to be an indispensible tool that has helped them enhance their theatre performance and theatre making. From increased sensitivity and flexibility to sharper awareness, from having more choices in building a character ,to solving problems in the rehearsal room or to simply standing on stage and sensing that they are present and in the moment. The Feldenkrais Method has helped them in all aspects of their theatre work.
This time, they will lead a set of intensive Feldenkrais Workshops specifically designed for actors, directors, dancers, musicians and artists.
The four full day workshops will lead the participants to
* Increased sensitivity and awareness
* Move with greater ease and grace
* Integrate movement with thinking, feeling and sensing
* Find greater freedom in breathing and improve voice projection
* Observe patterns of movement in themselves as well as the others to increase range, detail and depth in developing characters
* Experience greater spacial awareness
* Reduce the likelihood of injury in rehearsal or performance
